Oil Problems? How’s Your Supply?
Iran has threatened to put a noose on the Straits of Hormuz and stop oil from flowing through this important sea gate. The U.S. and theBritish Commonwealth are, surprisingly to many who hear it for the first time, the descendants of Abraham to whom God promised the possession of the “gate of their enemies” (Gen. 22:17). Not only have they lost those sea gates because of their disobedience, but they have also seen them attacked in many ways. If Iran were to do what it has threatened, oil prices in the West would rise alarmingly. What can you do about it?
You can begin by heeding the biblical admonition repeated 365 times, “Fear not!” Look to Jesus as your only Source, your Provision, your Defender, your Savior. When you are a tithe-paying, loyal member of the Body of Christ and looking to Jesus, you are in God’s economic system, which is independent of the world’s system.
And while oil supply may be a problem for the world, and gas prices a problem for people in the world’s system, it doesn’t have to be a problem—unless you allow fear to rule you and your words and actions.
What you need to concentrate on is your oil supply. The Holy Spirit is compared to oil. He is the anointing, the empowerment God gives us to fulfill our calling. Like oil, He provides energy to go forward, even in times of uncertainty. He lubricates, making even the rough places in our live smooth. Like soothing massage oil, He brings peace to areas of turbulence in our lives.
While the world is fearful about filling up at the gasstation, we say to our readers: fill’er up! Fill up on the oil of the Holy Spirit. Stay close to God. Stay in His Word. Claim His covenant promises. God, Yahovah Yireh and El Shaddai, says He will meet all our needs, not according to the world’s limited way of providing, but according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Phil. 4:19).
We only limit God by our lack of thankfulness. But God’s provision is unlimited and unhindered by circumstances like attacks on the world’s oil. Be well oiled spiritually, and you will have no need to worry or fear about today or the future.
Fill up on the oil of the Holy Spirit, and look forward to abundant blessings!
