
“Surely, not me,” you say? But are you sure? Many Christians undermine what they derisively call the “Old” Testament, but God’s Word is never old. It is bursting with newness as the Holy Spirit opens it to our understanding. And God never calls the Hebrew part of the Bible, composing nearly three-fourths of God’s Book, old. Men added that. When only the Hebrew Scriptures existed, Jesus said we were to live by every word of God (Mat. 4:4). The New Testament gives an incomplete picture of who Jesus is. If that’s all you read, you haven’t got a clue about who the real Jesus is. How can you fully know and love Jesus if you don’t know who He is? Surprise!
